Veterans Day Celebration 2010 & Fundraiser November 10 & 11 Veterans were treated to a SOS Special for $5.00 --cream ground beef which came with eggs, home fires and drink. DFW Blue Star Mothers greeted over 350 Veterans during the two day event. Poor Richard's donated their total profits to the Blue Star Mothers. The restaurant donated $1000 plus the collections to the group from the very generous customers amounted to $1000. Blue Star Mothers is a non-profit which assists all branches for our active military. They will be sending several hundred care packages over the holidays. The $2000 donation will help pay the majority of the shipping costs Over the Years - At Thanksgiving along with Plano Sunrise Rotary, Plano Police and its customers, Poor Richard's serves Thanksgiving meals to deserving families, individuals and Seniors. In 2009 the event fed over 2350 folks a hot Thanksgiving Meal. Santa Claus courtesy of Plano Christmas Cops showed up with toys and a photo opportunity for youngsters and families. The event brings together over 225 volunteers from various community agencies, schools, police departments, Rotary Clubs and customers and employees of Poor Richard's. With the help of the police departments from Plano, Allen, McKinney and Frisco along with the Collin County Sheriff's Department, they delivered hot Thanksgiving meals for individual Meals on Wheels people and families plus bulk meals to Seniors at Plano Community Homes and Boys and Girls Club of McKinney. - Each year since the late 1980's the restaurant has helped the Plano Christmas Cops with matching donations from its customers. Last year we donated $6500.
- We have 4 Blood Drives for Plano Sunrise Rotary Club and Carter Blood Care getting over 125 units of blood total.
- We sponsor Flu Shots for customers and employees in October. Seniors can use Medicare for free shots.
- During the year Poor Richard's supports numerous school and civic organizations who need some help.

Plano Sunrise Rotary is a non-profit organization, helping citizens of Plano and Collin County and people around the world through the Rotary Foundation and local fund raising. Samaritan Inn McKinney is a non-profit organization, helping thousands of homeless people in Collin County regain their independence with comprehensive programs
